CoinOPS is a versatile, all-in-one gaming front-end designed for multiple platforms including Windows 10/11, macOS 11.0 and higher, Arch Linux[1], Raspberry Pi 4/400/5, and the Steam Deck™.
It is built upon the open-source application RetroFE (retrofe.nl) and expanded through continuous development by the CoinOPS Team and its community. The project’s source and ongoing contributions can be found on GitHub (github.com), where users and developers collaborate to enhance performance, stability, and overall feature support.
The primary objective of CoinOPS is to streamline the retro gaming experience by integrating multiple emulators into a single, unified, and easy-to-use interface. Rather than overwhelming players with enormous ROM collections and inconsistent visuals, CoinOPS emphasizes a curated selection of high-quality games and systems, presented with premium artwork, themes, and menus. It’s designed to deliver a cohesive, customizable, and visually rich experience for all users — from casual players to dedicated cabinet builders.
If your goal is to collect and manage complete “full set” archives, CoinOPS may not be the right choice. In such cases, alternatives like Batocera, LaunchBox, or HyperSpin may be better suited for comprehensive ROM management.
CoinOPS is and always will be free. The official development team does not accept donations, charge for builds, or profit from any part of this project. Any paid versions or third-party sellers claiming to distribute “official CoinOPS” builds are unauthorized and should be considered fraudulent.
Prebuilt Linux images are based on Arch but other distributions are frequently tested against and can be compiled by an individual willing to do so. ↩︎
